Services under the CHSP provided at Hunter Community Services are:

We offer services including personal hygiene and grooming, showering, dressing, meal preparation and eating, shopping and transport.

We understand that feeling clean, presentable and socially connected is important for your overall wellbeing. Our professional and caring team will assist you in a discreet and respectful manner to help you feel confident and capable every day.

Domestic Assistance

Our carers will ensure your living space is kept clean, safe and to an appropriate living standard. We will ensure your household chores are completed so you can enjoy your time.

Our domestic assistance services can include general cleaning and tidying, washing and ironing of clothes, cleaning of bathrooms, laundry duties and making beds.

Our team will deliver high quality service and be respectful of your home and belongings.

Social Support Individual

We can assist you in maintaining a social life to help you feel supported by continuing to participate within the community.

To help you stay involved with social activities, our team will organise social outings, home visits, transport and company with appointments as well as provide access to support groups, recreational activities and shopping.

Our team understands it is important to avoid feeling isolated and lonely, we will provide as much support as you need to ensure you maintain a social lifestyle.

Flexible Respite

We understand that it is important for carers to look after their own wellbeing by maintaining social relationships and their lifestyles outside of being a carer.

Flexible respite provides an opportunity to take a short break from the responsibilities of caring for someone else. This can include recreational activities, leisure activities, short holidays and day outings.

Respite supports and strengthens family relationships and allows carers to re-energise to care at the best of their ability.

Centre Based Respite

We can offer centre based respite care that involves structured but relaxed group activities designed to maintain independent living and social interaction.

Centre based respite activities can include group outings, day therapy, arts, crafts and cooking to provide creative and intellectual challenges. One Thursday every month we organise a bus tour to a local landmark or recreational facility for a day out with a difference.

We aim to enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of our consumers and provide much needed support for their carers.

We understand how important it is to avoid feeling isolated and lonely.

We provide transport for appointments as well as for more social activities such as shopping, recreational activities and support groups.

Goods & Equipment

Sometimes access to goods, equipment or assistive technology is needed to help you perform tasks you may not otherwise be able to do, or to help you be safer and more independent.

Examples may include mobility aids like walking frames and mobility scooters, communication aids and goods to help you with day-to-day activities such as bathing, dressing and preparing food.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists assist you in participating in everyday activities, such as personal care, getting around your home, getting in and out of bed or chairs and domestic tasks.

Our Occupational Therapists can assess your current situation and suggest interventions like specialised home modifications (hand rails, ramps, bathroom modifications etc), equipment aids to help with personal care, working in the kitchen, wheelchair and scooter mobility etc.

We also provide training and education to you, your carers and significant others to maintain your health and increase safety in everyday life.

Home Modifications

We can assist in arranging simple home modifications to help you live safely and independently.

Examples of home modifications may be building ramps, adding support rails or installing emergency alarms.

Home Maintenance

It can be a struggle to keep up with home maintenance as your mobility decreases and frustrating for the house-proud.

We can help with minor home maintenance tasks like changing light bulbs or smoke detector batteries, replacing tap washers and fixing door locks.

This ensures your property stays well looked after and safe to live in.

To discuss your eligibility for this program or for further information, please call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit They will assess you and, if you qualify you can NOMINATE Hunter Community Services to deliver your home care package.
